Why players deserve better — and why this world still matters.

When I heard the news that New World: Aeternum is being shut down, my heart sank. This isn’t just another online game coming to an end — this is the loss of something that truly meant something to so many of us.

I’ve been playing New World since its release on PC. From the first time I set foot on Aeternum, I felt something I hadn’t experienced in any MMO before. The world was alive — beautiful, mysterious, and filled with people who were just as passionate as I was. It wasn’t just about quests or grinding; it was about the memories we made together. The community was strong, creative, and dedicated.

That’s why it feels so wrong for Amazon to simply shut it down. New World: Aeternum was not a failure. The game made money. The players were loyal. The spark was still there. This isn’t a dead game — it’s a world that was abandoned too soon, a world that still has life left in it. Shutting it down feels like a decision driven by greed, not reality.

For me, this decision hits even harder because our in-game company — our guild, our home — was led by a close friend who passed away. Every time I logged in, I felt a piece of that friendship still alive. The homes in the cities that we built, the battles we fought, the laughter in voice chat, the countless hours farming materials together— those weren’t just moments in a game. They were memories that carried meaning. Losing New World means losing the last living piece of that connection. I don’t want that taken away. It’s all we have left.

Amazon, please — bring back the developers. Let this community keep playing, creating, and remembering. There’s still so much love for New World: Aeternum. For many of us, it was the first MMO that truly resonated, that made us feel something.

This game wasn’t a waste. It wasn’t a mistake. It was a milestone. Don’t let greed erase what thousands of players built together. Let us keep our world.

If you believe New World: Aeternum deserves to live on, please consider signing and sharing the petition to keep the game running. Together, we can remind Amazon that what they’re shutting down isn’t just a product — it’s a community, a memory, and for some of us, a part of who we are. Petition: https://c.org/SRzpjrRxnd
